A great lead worker, I recall Alan working on a clay piece with me, many years ago, to produce a low relief model of a lion's face to cast in lead. It was a delight to work with him. I believe there were several editions of his lion and there must be a few still gracing posts and porticoes bearing witness to his creativity. With many strings to his bow, in music and art as well as teaching, Alan will be missed by many.
